How do I participate?
- Create a team with coworkers or your department!
- Build your fundraising page through this website – it’s easy and fun to do!
- Generate support through your social networks to reach your team goal.
- Mark your calendar for Friday, August 23, to spin and have fun!
- Arrive on event day prepared to spin - and prepared to win the best decorated bike and best costume awards!
How many people can be on a team?
A minimum of four (4) people must be on a team to participate with a maximum of eight (8). On event day, each rider spins (for as long or as little as desired!) on the stationary bike from 2 pm - 5 pm.
When can I start fundraising?
Fundraising begins now through the event on August 23, 2019. Be sure to register your team today – bikes are limited to the first 35 teams. Follow instructions on the next page to start or join a team!
How do I raise money?
Every rider has access to a Spin for STEAM Handbook that outlines strategies and tips to meet your fundraising goal. Have fun with it! Event day is full of giveaways and contests! Prizes will be awarded for:
- Highest Fundraising Team
- Highest Fundraising Rider
- Best Decorated Bike
- Best Costumes
- Most Enthusiastic Team
Do I request time off for this?
Since this event will take place for three hours during working hours it would be wise to talk to your manager to request flex time and/or use PTO or vacation to participate in the event. Remember, this is a team effort. You could arrange with your team individual times to spin within the 3-hour event. This would help you to better manage your time if you are unable to attend the full event.
Can I donate or fundraise if I am not a rider?
Yes! There are two options.
You can donate to a rider or team online. Select the individual or team you’d like to contribute to and help support Carlsbad public schools!
You can also create a virtual team. Raise money for Carlsbad school students by starting a 'virtual bike,' and opt-out of riding on event day.
What should I bring on event day?
Bring streamers, ribbon, posters, tutus, removable gems, etc. to decorate your bike on race day! (Just be sure it doesn’t get in the way of spinning.)
Make costumes that relate to your theme, team name, business area - or create something completely different, like Minions, Mardi Gras, Disney...the sky is the limit!
Pack your gym bag! Bring workout clothes and spin shoes (bikes are compatible with SPD cleats and have tennis shoe cages). A towel, water bottle, and sunscreen are provided at the event.
What is STEAM?
